Kokako Poetry Magazine

I had a singular exchange occur recently, and it tickled me in just the right spot, so I am sharing.

I submitted a delicious haiku (yep, just one) to a New Zealand publication called Kokako.  Within a few hours, I got a reply from a nice lady named Patricia, saying...

"I'm sorry but we do not accept haiku unless you are a subscriber to the magazine. If you would like me to send you a subscription form, please let me know."

Clearly, I was embarrassed by this scandalous faux pas, so I replied...

My mistake, sorry.  At this time, I must decline your subscription offer.

(Hey!  That's the first time I ever declined a publisher!  Ha.  Congratulations on the distinction.)

I hope she thought it was funny too.
