The OA is based on Native American lifeways and has satisfying mystical and spiritual components. OA is driven by lofty ideals of cheerful service and brotherhood that you simply cannot find in other youth organizations.
And before you get all bent about recent religious and social issues swirling around the Boy Scouts, let me say that I agree with some of it and disagree with the rest. You can figure out where I stand by reading my work (if they'll just publish some more of it!).
A phrase from one of the more meaningful OA ceremonies has always stuck with me; so, I turned it into a micropoem. It was published HERE today by my London friends at The Micropoetry Society.
